Betting Card: Travelers Championship

, , ,

Travelers Championship week and final signature event of the 2026 season! Thank god!

Weather is looking rather wet, so the course should be soft and I think we’ll see some low numbers. Recall Cam Young shot a 59 here back in 2024.

Just outrights this week as we look to snap the outright slump. Actually some pretty good odds too this week especially for a siggy event.

Reasoning

Morikawa: Despite the injury, he continues to play some impressive golf, coming off a T17 at the US Open where he was in the thick of it before fading over the course of the weekend. TPC River Highlands will be playing much easier than Shinnecock did, which gives me more confidence that Collin can pull off the win even with what he’s dealing with.

T13 is his best finish here previously, but Data Golf has him listed as losing 1.09 strokes versus expectation at this tournament. Another way of saying it: on paper, based on course fit, he should be playing better than he has. What I just said, paired with the 30/1 odds, was too good to pass on for me.

Cantlay: Tough week at the US Open, but I fear that’s just who Cantlay is in Majors. However, it’s a different story at TPC River Highlands because since 2021 his finishes here are as follows: T13, T13, T4, T5, T12.

He’s yet to win it, but it’s clear he’s comfortable here and should presumably be confident coming into the week.

He’s also gained strokes on approach according to Data Golf in 7 straight starts and off-the-tee in every start besides one in 2026. The underlying numbers are very good. I feel like Cantlay has to break through again at some point.

The putter has been cold this year, and we’ll need a spike week with that.

A. Fitzpatrick: Continues to be so impressive since gaining a PGA Tour card at the Zurich. I’m actually blown away with how competitive he’s been. Already three top 10s in some big-boy events since joining the Tour, and he’s coming off a great week at his first-ever US Open.

I think his odds number will only continue to shrink. +6000 is great value for the caliber of golf he’s been playing. The ball striking has been ELITE.

Bhatia: Trending back up after a great showing at Shinnecock. Importantly, he gained strokes on approach by over a shot and off the tee again, which have been areas of concern over the last month.

He also has a previous T5 at the Travelers, and +6000 for someone who’s already won on Tour, including a Signature Event, was a must-add.

Straka: He’s been a pretty irrelevant figure on Tour this year, but I simply couldn’t pass on a multiple-time Tour winner who has a few top 10s, including a runner-up, on the year and is listed at 100/1.

He had also been striking the ball really well prior to his US Open start.

James: Two starts as a pro, and he’s impressed in both. Solo leader in Canada through 36 holes, which went terribly on the weekend, but it’s a learning experience. Then he followed that up with a top 25 at the US Open the following week.

He’s a ball striker, and based on what I’ve seen from him so far as a pro, I don’t think we’ll be seeing 200/1 odds much longer. I’m taking an outside shot.

Suber: 250/1 odds for a guy who led going into the final round of Canada two weeks ago? Why not, I’ll take a shot.
