Reasoning:
Keeping these quick and straight to the point.
Rahm: It’s been a couple of poor years at the Majors for Rahm since departing the PGA Tour for LIV Golf. However, week in and week out he continues to produce results on LIV. In his five starts on LIV this year his results have been 2nd, 2nd, Win, 5th, 2nd.
The form is great right now and a player of Rahm’s caliber (2-time Major winner) isn’t going to continue to lay eggs in his major starts, he just can’t.
Young: He’s coming into this week coming off the biggest win of his career at the PLAYERS Championship and it will be his first major start being a tour winner + a Ryder cupper, where he was team USA best player.
Since Young picked up his first win late last summer he’s felt like a different player, more dangerous and that was a golfer with already 6 major championship top 10 finishes since 2022. He’s also finished top 10 at the Masters twice before T7 in 2023 and T9 in 2024.
Red hot form coming in.
Fitzpatrick: Already a major champion and another golfer who is coming in red hot, winning, and finishing runner up in his last two starts. Fitzpatrick’s approach play is the strongest it’s ever been too, which is a key skill separator at Augusta. Fitzpatrick hasn’t been great at the Masters in the past, but it hasn’t been horrible and hasn’t missed the cut since 2014. He’s never been in better form coming into Augusta.
Bhatia: I think Bhatia is bound for a breakout in a major this season after a couple years of majors under his belt now. He’s insanely talented and picked up the biggest win of his career at the Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this season. The results and form have been fantastic these last couple of months.
Will he win this week? Probably not but I could definitely see it and the higher odds on a guy with his talent and skill level was far too enticing to pass up on.
Day: Potentially a bit of a biased pick as I’m a big fan of Jason Day but he does often play well here, having numerous top 10 finishes to show for it, including last year.
Feels wrong for the career of Jason Day to not have a green jacket be a part of it and I want to speak it into existence this week.
Conners: Has played well plenty of times here, including last year. Does he have what it takes to eventually win come Sunday late afternoon probably not. This is more of a top 5 finish play but I’d be kicking myself if he ended up in that green jacket and all I had was the top 5 finish. +10000 is fantastic odds too.
